Opportunity
The more knowledge a prospect has before committing to an insurance company the more secure they feel moving forward and become a returning member. This product is all about transparency. The RxCalculator allows prospective Humana Medicare members to price their prescriptions before Medicare AEP/Open Enrollment. This tool keeps Humana competitive in the prescription drug plan market by being open about costs.
Develop
We interviewed Medicare members to understand what they needed when shopping for a plan. Moving forward with these needs, we began white-boarding ideas. We created different flows and low fidelity prototypes in order to get these designs in front of Medicare users. This method of failing early and often allowed us to really hone in on what worked for someone looking to purchase a Medicare plan online with accurate prescription prices. Working on a product so data heavy really required a close relationship with the engineering team. We were in close communication, sitting next to each other to make sure we were making smart decisions for the overall product. Product management also had a seat at the table. They ensured we were capturing the needs of the business. Having representatives from the three disciplines (UX, Engineering, Product Management) was absolutely crucial to the success of this product.
